Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala has flown to Somalia in the wake of an Al-Shaabab attack on a base manned by Ugandan troops to assess the situation.General Wamala intends to assess the extent of the damage caused by the attack and to establish whether there were any flaws in terms of the response.
Meanwhile,the bodies of 12 UPDF soldiers who were killed in the attack will arrive in Uganda starting Thursday.
AMISOM confirmed that the militants used a car loaded with explosives to attack the base and forced entry into the camp largely occupied by the UPDF. The forces said they repulsed the attack.
