The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission to Somalia (SRCC) and Head of AMISOM, Ambassador Francisco Caetano Jose Madeira extends warm greetings to the people and the government of Somalia, on the occasion of Eid al Fitr.
Ambassador Madeira congratulates Somalis on the successful completion of Ramadan, which marks an end to the month-long fasting period.
“The holy month of Ramadan reinforces in us the virtues of sharing, self-sacrifice, unity and reconciliation. These virtues are essential for the consolidation of togetherness and national unity, critical for lasting peace and stability in Somalia,” Ambassador Madeira said.
Ambassador Madeira lauded the Somali government for its leadership and the Somali National Security Forces for the security arrangement they have put in place during the holy month.
He reiterated AMISOM’s continued commitment in support of peace and reconciliation in the country and the implementation of the Somalia transition plan.
